The Man With The Golden Gun

Scaramanga's Matador is converted into a flying car to escape from Bond and take him to his Thailand hideaway.

Scaramanga's
AMC Matador

Scaramanga, is a million dollar assassin with a golden gun that is pitted against Bond in this 1974 film. He uses a flying car, actually an AMC Matador Cassini Coupe to escape with his diminutive sidekick Nick Knack with Bond girl Mary Goodnight in the boot of the car.

Oleg Cassini is the famous American fashion designer hired to develop a more elegant luxury version of the car for AMC (the American Motors Corporation) and added the vinyl roof.

The car on display is the actual car used, sadly minus its wings – but watch this space...

THE FILM
1974. Directed by Guy Hamilton. Starring Roger Moore, Christopher Lee, Britt Ekland, Maud Adams.

SOUNDTRACK
Music by John Barry. Main theme sung by Lulu

Scaramanga vs. James Bond. His Golden gun against 007's Walther PPK

Scaramanga's
Golden Gun pistol

Scaramanga's weapon of choice is the golden gun of the title. A single-shot pistol that fires a 4.2-millimeter custom made golden bullet, which shattes on impact like a fragmentation grenade. Scaramanga uses such a weapon to emphasize his skill as a marksman and the fact that he only ever needs one bullet to kill a target.

The gun cleverly separates into a gold pen, a gold cigarette case, a gold cuff link, and a gold cigarette lighter so as to avoid detection and to help carry it around the world.

The prop on display is the original Colibri Golden Gun.
